Overview-Pressure Reducing Valves
Pressure Reducing Valves protect pipes and other downstream equipment from overpressure by regulating the higher upstream pressure to a lower, controlled pressure. This reduced pressure is known as the set pressure and is easily adjusted by turning the adjusting bolt, thus compressing the spring (clockwise increases the set pressure, anti-clockwise reduces the set pressure).
There are some general rules to help select the best regulator and the best control for each application:-
• Unlike other valves where the valve size matches the pipe size, these pressure control valves must be “sized”, using the pressure drop (P1- P2) and the flow range required. In many cases, a valve at least one size smaller than pipe diameter is selected. This reduces overall cost, guarantees better pressure control and avoids hunting and poor regulation associated with oversizing.
• Self acting valves are the simplest design and represent the lowest cost but they are not as accurate as pilot operated valves.
• Always use the lightest spring as this will reduce “droop” (if the set pressure is 7 bar and there are two ranges, spring #1 5 bar-7 bar, spring #2 range 4 bar-10 bar, spring #1 is the best choice). Spring ranges are generally mid compression ranges, not spring limits, so further adjustment outside of the published ranges is always possible.
The following range is extensive, mainly because every regulator has limitations on sizes, materials of construction, suitability to various media, inlet pressures and reduced pressure ranges. In addition to the metal bodied valves offered below, a good quality Thermoplastic reducing valve (DMV755) can be found on this website.

Model 4360 Pressure Reducing Valve (DI/BZ/316SS)
Treloar/Jordan 4360 is the Australian made version of the US manufactured Mk60 and is available in sizes 1/2"-2" (Cv's 0.84-50). It is a robust, versatile, self acting valve that has sliding gate, long life Jorcote seats, rather than conventional piston or plug and seat. It is suitable to use with water, oil, gas, chemicals and steam. There are many variations to the basic model such as 4361 (high sensitivity, low droop), 43601 (high flow version) and 4360HP (high pressure version). In Bronze or DI version, valves have screwed ends BSPT, 316ss (fabricated/machined body) valves can be threaded, socket weld, butt-weld or flanged to Ansi 150/300 or AS Tables D/E. In all body materials, where a valve is smaller than the pipe size, valves can be flanged up to match the actual pipe size.
Maximum inlet pressure- BZ (2100 kpa) / DI (3,100 kpa)/ 316SS (4,500 kpa)
Maximum temp- BZ/DI (260°C)/ 316SS (343°C)
Reduced pressure ranges: 4360 (many ranges between 14 kpa-1,120 kpa)
4361 (many ranges between 7 kpa-1,260 kpa)
4360HP(ranges between 525 kpa-3,150 kpa)
Options: In US made MK60, sizes from 1/4"-4" (Cv's 0.08-200), low flow trim in all sizes, special coated seats, Jorlon long life diaphragm, cryogenic extension, Oxygen cleaned, salt water trim, Companion flanges for Bronze & DI valves, flanges welded to body for 316ss,
Mark 67 Pilot Operated Pressure Reducing Valve (CI/DI/WCB/316SS)
Jordan MK67 series is a pilot operated pressure reducing valve and provides greater accuracy and lower offset than can be achieved with self acting valves. It is available in sizes 1/2"-6" (Cv's 5.0-395) and consists of a main valve with a small, pilot valve. The Mk67 combines the short stroke of the sliding gate with the action of a pilot valve to create a faster, more accurate response (less droop as flows increase). Can be used where greater accuracy is required than self acting valves or where control systems are not an option.
Suitable for steam, water, oil, gas and chemicals. Available with NPT threaded ends (1/2”→2”) or Ansi 150/300 flanges (1/2”→6”)
Several adjustable pressure ranges from 70-100 kpa→1,030-1380 kpa)
Options: 69D, 69H or 69L Pilot valves, differential pressure pilot, low pressure pilot, BSP ends

Model 4303/4304 Bronze Pressure Reducing Valve W.O.G
Trident model 4303-heavy duty, high capacity, self acting bronze pressure reducing valve with a soft seat, making it suitable for standard pressure reduction as well as dead-end service. It is only available in three sizes, ½”, ¾” or 1”. It features an integral non-return valve to meet water supply regulations.
Model 4304 is the same valve but the brass seat is upgraded to stainless steel (for harsh water environment).
Maximum inlet pressure – 2,700 kpa (390psi)
Maximum temp- 90°C
Reduced pressure ranges available:
4303-15 (1/2”) 50-175 kpa, 175 kpa-350 kpa, 350-700 kpa
4304-20 (3/4”) 50-275 kpa, 240-700 kpa
4304-25 (1”) 50-275 kpa, 240-700 kpa
