You could say Rosco McGlashan, Australia’s land speed record holder, has always had a need for speed ever since he was a young lad, always tinkering with anything that had wheels. This passion only grew stronger when he assembled his first Land Speed Racer known as the ‘Aussie Invader II’. After a lot of blood, sweat and tears McGlashan became the ‘Fastest Aussie on Earth’ with an official 500 mph two way pass. But that wasn’t enough, and hence the Aussie Invader 5R was born. This new beauty requires a bi-propellant motor that will be capable of exceeding the holy grail of auto racing, an impressive 1000 mph, otherwise known as a casual 1,600+km/h.
When Braeco Sales heard about this amazing challenge, we jumped at the chance to support this Australian legend. We worked with McGlashan and his team to supply some manual and pneumatically actuated ball valves fitted with our Primsa actuators and Eurotec pilot solenoid valves to help control the fuel going to the massive jet engine!
Our sales consultant Carissa was even fortunate enough to check out the Aussie Invader 5R in person and got a bit too comfortable behind the wheel of the driver’s seat! It’s safe to say that Rosco has a backup driver on call if he ever needs one.
